The School
We offer Flamenco dance classes from beginners and up, specialising in children, adults as well as professional training to students and company members. The Alianza Flamenca syllabus is taught to students and assessments are held every June and November. The syllabus consists of 2 children’s courses, plus 8 levels and offer 2 advanced levels.
We also offer students the opportunity to dance on stage at annual studio shows and events as well as offering them the chance to compete in festivals, preparing them to take part in workshops and courses locally and abroad.
Semi and Professional Open Classes are also available. Private lessons are available on request.

The Company
El Rincon Flamenco is a flamenco dance company based in Johannesburg which has been in existence for the last 25 years under the direction of Hazel Acosta. Since 2005, Joanne Bobrow and Mireille Lenferna (both students and company members) have taken over the running of the company, more recently Rosana Maya also joined the teaching faculty and company
The company at present consists of 8 professional dancers who have trained extensively in Flamenco, both locally and abroad. El Rincon regularly entertains for corporate and private functions as well as cabarets and restaurants . Members have danced in various shows for the Spanish embassy, both in Johannesburg and Cape Town. They have also performed for the Consulate of Costa Rica’s Tourespaña promotion.
In March 2009, El Rincon was invited to perform for two weeks in India, where the previous year’s production of ‘Caminando’ (The Journey) was showcased.
