Tanya Bayona and Theresa Lungaro-Mifsud (ballet), Alexandra Le Maitre (ballet), Dame Mavis Becker (Spanish), Carlos, Maria Magdalena, Jose Antonio Ruiz, Belen Maya, Rocio Molina, Angel Muñoz, Domingo Ortega, Mercedes Ruiz, Javier Latorre, Dame Hazel Acosta (founder of Alianza Flameca), Francesca Grima, Isaac “Pinky” Ramagole (Tswana), amoung many others.
“Although originated in the south of Spain, Flamenco is a hybrid art form that incorporates many cultures; Rajesthani and Classical Indian dance, Persian and Moorish influences, noticable in the bar phrasing and song of flamenco. It is a totally indiscriminate music, song, dance and philosophy that lends itself to personal and emotional exploration. While challenging the highest technical expertise and sensitivity in human nature, flamenco is identifiable in all cultures and is recognised as a World Heritage by UNESCO.
“This is the artform that has enabled me to break boundries, discover new cultures and search for the depth and the heights of my physical capacity and spiritual being. While constantly working to master the challenging technique, I have sought and found moments of the divine. Flamenco lifts one from the mundane to the sublime, on a passionately stimulating journey of life, through music, song and dance” ROSANA MAYA
